PRESS RELEASE - December 4th, 2003

on the re-opening of Quartek Group Inc.’s Port Colborne Office in their new premises at 378 King St.
December 4th, 2003.

The roots of Quartek Group Inc. in Port Colborne go back 45 years when Stan Butcherd, OAA, started practicing architecture in the City. In 1992, he was joined by our Director of Architecture, Robert MacKenzie, OAA, creating the Port Colborne based firm MacKenzie Butcherd Architects Inc. In 1998, Robert and Stan joined MPS Reinders Niagara Inc., which had operated in Niagara-on-the-Lake since 1980. In January 2000, we changed our name to Quartek Group Inc. to reflect the four main areas in which we provide professional services:

• Architecture
• Engineering
• Planning
• Project Management

Our President, Patrick MacNeill, P.Eng., has directed the operations at the Niagara-on-the-Lake office since 1984, and Doug Peters, P.Eng., Director of Engineering, has 23 years experience in Municipal Engineering and Land Development projects in the Niagara Peninsula including 15 years at Quartek.

Doug and Pat have been involved in many projects in the Port Colborne area including Sugarloaf Harbour Marina, Colborne Area Stormwater Management, Main St. and Omar Ave. sewage pumping stations and other projects for the public and private sectors. Of course, Stan and Rob have been involved in numerous architectural projects in the City over the years including Port Colborne Hospital projects, Davidson Funeral Home, recent additions to the Port Colborne Museum, Port Colborne Library, original design of Lakeport High School and the City’s central post office, various residential multi-housing projects and senior citizen homes such as Portal Village and religious institutions throughout Port Colborne.

The partners and staff of Quartek Group Inc. wish to continue to be part of the development of Port Colborne over the coming years and are committed to being the premier single source in Port Colborne and surrounding areas for creative, cost effective solutions in Architecture, Engineering, Planning and Project Management
